United States Attorney General Eric Holder has said that there is no "credible information" so far to determine that al Qaeda was responsible for last week's attacks on French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo that killed 17 people.

According to the Express Tribune, Holder said that the US stands in solidarity with the French but they will have to see into the matter to "determine what kind of retaliation would be appropriate". Holder spoke as France united in a rally against the Paris attackers. Millions of people across the country took to the streets.

Holder said that there was no threat to the United States despite the alarms. He added that the environment has changed over the years. General Martin Dempsey, the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff also showed his agreement with Holder's remarks in a separate interview.
