A lot of analysis has been done about how 28-year-old  Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, won the Democractic New York primary defeating Joe Crowley, a 10 times Congressmen who was tipped to become the next Speaker if the party flips the House in mid-terms this October.

Many including the likes of Nate Silver has said that Cortez, who has campaigned for Bernie Sanders won because of the demographic profile of the district, which is heavily slanted towards Latinos.

Some have also pointed out that Crowley may have gone complacent which resulted in his defeat. For the record, Crowley citing busy schedule didn't even turn up for the scheduled debate with Cortez. However, Cortez who has impressed many with her spontaneous response and fresh take on politics replied her critics, but using a dash of humour.

This is what she tweeted:

She said," Some folks are saying I won for “demographic” reasons.1st of all, that’s false. We won w/voters of all kinds." According to her, " Respect the hustle. We won bc we out-worked the competition. Period"

Ocasio-Cortez who is a Democratic Socialist didn't take a single money from PACs during the campaign. Many of the activists groups connected to the Democractic Party helped her to pull money to fight against the might of Crowley. She stands for free education for all, medicaid for all among other progressive and socialist measures.

"This is not an end, this is the beginning. This is the beginning because the message that we sent the world tonight is that it's not OK to put donors before your community," Ocasio-Cortez told her supporters after win.
"You have given this country hope, you have given this country proof that when you knock on your neighbour's door, when you come to them with love, when you let them know that no matter your stance, you are there for them that we can make change," she said.

President Donald Trump had also commented on Crowley's defeat to Ocasio-Cortez."Wow! Big Trump Hater Congressman Joe Crowley, who many expected was going to take Nancy Pelosi's place, just LOST his primary election," Trump tweeted. "In other words, he's out! That is a big one that nobody saw happening. Perhaps he should have been nicer, and more respectful, to his President!" he said.
