A juvenile court here has ordered the release of seven Pakistani boys, who were caught in 2013 while illegally trespassing into the Indian waters, and ordered their deportation. Chief Judicial Magistrate in Jamnagar A M Vaishnav on Tuesday ordered the release of seven boys, in the age group of 13 to 17 years, from Saurashtra zone observation home in Rajkot district.

According to Social Defence Officer at Rajkot, Kanaksinh Jhala, the boys were apprehended along with other Pakistani fishermen by Indian maritime security agencies, including the Coast Guard, from the Arabian Sea at different places like Okha, Veraval and Jakhau in Gujarat.

"I received a letter from the Jamnagar Chief Judicial Magistrate with the direction to initiate the process to release the seven boys who were kept in Rajkot observation home," Jhala said. "The minor from Pakistan were facing charges under the Indian Maritime Zone Act for trespassing into the Indian territorial waters," he said.

The court's direction came after the two countries reached an agreement for releasing the minor boys who were caught along with their elders. Both the countries completed the process of identity verification of the boys before taking the decision to release them, he said.

The boys had entered the Indian waters when they came for fishing either with their father or other senior family member, Jhala said. "After receiving the court's letter, we have sent the boys to Jamnagar district children's home and further process of their deportation will be conducted by tomorrow," he said. The boys are likely to be sent to Pakistan either through Wagah border at Punjab or through sea-route off the Gujarat coast, he added.
