A 22-year-old Indian-American technie has become the youngest candidate for the upcoming Governor election in California. Shubham Goel who has his roots in Uttar Pradesh is out on the streets of California with a megaphone on hand campaigning for his candidacy.

Dressed in dark blue t-shirt and a pair of jeans, Shubham can be seen campaigning at a carnival in California to support him to win the election in a video he posted on Twitter. He talked about the importance of transparency in the political system and advocating ways to combat corruption.

Goel, a virtual reality manager by profession, graduated from University of California (UCLA) with degree in economics and film studies. In another video posted on Twitter, Shubham can be seen campaigning on VR platforms. "Technology has been able to fix a lot of issues. I want to run for governor just to implement technologically feasible platforms," Shubham said.

Goel, born and raised in California, believes the main reason for running an office is to bring about 'change' and not be for political funds. "I am running for governor because I want to show people that you don’t need to be rich, good looking, charismatic, upper class, corrupt, a D-list celebrity or politically well-connected (via nepotism, etc.) to make a difference," he wrote in an op-ed posted on Twitter.

Goal also tweeted saying California is struggling and now is the time for change. "I'm running for Governor of California as the youngest candidate to fix the state for all people using feasible and technological solutions. All people of California are struggling & now is the moment 4 change," he posted on Twitter.

Goel will contest against 27 candidates in the Governor elections on June 5, 2018 without any political party backing or interference.
