2013 has been marked as the bloodiest year yet in the brutal civil war of Syria with more than 73, 000 people dead, an NGO said.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that it considered the international community a partner in the bloodshed of the Syrian people as it had failed to take serious action to stop the war, News24 reports.

The Britain-based group said it had documented the deaths of 73, 455 people between 1 January 2013 and 31 December 2013, which included 22, 436 civilians, the report added.

The updated toll for the entire war that began in March 2011 is more than 130, 000.
