Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Washington DC, which is the fourth in his five-nation tour, late Wednesday night. This would be his fourth visit to the United States (US) in the last two years.

He was received by US Defence Secretary Ash Carter.

After paying tribute to the fallen soldiers at the 'Tomb of the Unknown Soldier’ at Arlington Cemetery, he went to offer homage to the victims of the Columbia Space Shuttle which included Kalpana Chawla.

Later, PM Modi  went to meet some of the top think tanks of US including Brookings, Council on Foreign Relations, Centre for American Progress, the Atlantic Council, The Hudson Institute, Global Energy Capital, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, etc.

This visit is expected to strengthen business ties between the two countries and it also comes in proximity to the deal signed on sharing intelligence.
