It is believed that the Holy Quran was unveiled to mankind by Prophet Muhammad in the Holy month of Ramadan.

With the sighting of the crescent moon on July 6, the holy month would go on till July 7, in 2016.

The intended purpose of Ramadan is to develop morality and character, however, it puts into perspective the population around the world which remains hungry.

Iftars are organised to break the fast everyday after sundown. And if you haven't attended an Iftar dinner, you definitely should. It is a gala dinner that is prepared everyday for the month and it is a culinary artwork.

Since it is a communal meal, it is always made in excess and feeds everyone irrespective of ones religion.

Eid ul-Fitr, one of the two major celebrations for Muslims mark the end of the month of Ramadan, which on 2016 is expected to be on July 7, depending on the sighting of the moon.

Take a look at some of the photos that show how Ramadan is being celebrated around the world.
