The parents of Reeva Steenkamp, who was gunned down by her Paralympian boyfriend Oscar Pistorius, are facing financial troubles following their daughter’s death, according to their lawyer.
Steenkamp’s family lawyer Dup de Bruyn said that the model’s parents Barry and June Steenkamp, who are a retired horse trainer and a former caterer respectively, were financially supported by Steenkamp’s modeling and reality-TV career, New York Post reports.
According to June, although they did not have much income, they tried their best to give their daughter the best in life.
However, Pistorius’ publicist Janine Hill lambasted the Steenkamp’s money troubles and said that it is distasteful that the personal finances of the Steenkamp family are being disclosed at a ‘sensitive period’.
