London's Victoria Station was briefly evacuated during the Thursday rush hour after a fire under a train that was pulling up to a platform, British transport police said.

There were no casualties, a spokesman said, adding that the station was evacuated because of smoke from the fire but was being re-opened.

A London fire brigade spokeswoman said power to the platform had been switched off. The train was a Gatwick Express service arriving from the international airport at Gatwick, south of the capital. The Victoria incident comes a day after a helicopter clipped a crane and crashed into a road in central London during Wednesday's rush hour.
