Justin Bieber has called for a meaningful legislation to protect celebrities and photographers, after a member of the paparazzi was killed while chasing the singer’s Ferrari on Tuesday evening in Los Angeles.
The 18-year-old teen icon was not in the white Ferrari at the time, but it’s thought that one of his pals was driving when the paparazzi was struck down by an oncoming vehicle, the Mirror reported.
After hearing about the tragic incident, Bieber released a statement saying that while he was not present nor directly involved with the tragic accident, his thoughts and prayers were with the family of the victim.
He said that he hoped that the tragedy would finally inspire meaningful legislation and whatever steps were necessary to protect the lives and safety of celebrities, police officers, innocent public bystanders, and the photographers themselves.
According to TMZ.com, the photographer had been following the Ferrari along Sepulveda Boulevard and got out to take pictures of the car when it was pulled over by the California Highway Patrol.
The Highway Patrol told the photographer to move back, as he tried to get photos through the Ferrari window, as the situation was unsafe.
According to the Los Angeles Times, the photographer was struck by an oncoming car and killed, as he ran back to his own car.
No arrests have been made.
