Security forces today pounded militant positions in the restive Orakzai tribal region of northwest Pakistan, killing 10 pro-Taliban rebels, security sources said.
The security forces used artillery to target militant hideouts in Khadezai, Mamozai and other areas of Orakzai agency.
Two hideout of the Taliban were also destroyed in the shelling, the sources said.
The troops resumed attacks on militant position after a gap of five days following the end of the vacation for Eid-ul-Azha.
The Orakzai region is considered a hotbed of al-Qaeda and Taliban operatives.
