A dog is a man and the law enforcement's best friend. Dogs have been helping the police for the longest time, sniffing out drugs, bombs etc. Tracking drugs can be very tricky snd the most effective way to catch a drug peddler is to have a sniffer on your team.

Recently, a sniffer dog found cocaine stuffed in a marble cake in the trunk of a car in Maine, United States. The police had stopped a car with a man and woman sitting inside on Interstate 295 in Gardiner on July 20 after receiving a tip-off about a drug smuggling racket, according to the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency (MDEA).

The smugglers had cleverly concealed two pounds of cocaine in a cake tray and they mixed it with coffee to cover the smell, but they were unable to outsmart the sniffer dog. The Maine State Police K9 squad seized four pounds of cocaine from the car which was worth $200,000 dollars (around Rs 1.5 crore) in the international market. Cash worth $1,900 dollars was also seized from the car.

The detainees namely John Cedeno from New York City and Chelsy Cochrana from Winslow were arrested under serious charges of drug trafficking. They were arrested and booked into the Kennebec County Jail. Cedeno’s bail was set at $750,000 dollars, while the bail amount for Cochrane’s was $50,000 dollars.
