A giant Asian water monitor wreaked havoc inside a 7-Eleven supermarket in Thailand. This dreadful event was recorded and shared by Thai travel agency Mundo Nomada on Twitter but was later removed by the account.
In the viral video, the water monitor, of the length of approximately 6 feet and weight around 80-90kg, can be seen climbing the shelves of the stores and scattering the things off the shelves. It can be finally seen settling on the top shelf, towards the end of the video. It has come out of a canal near Nakhon Pathom. The people inside the shop could be heard screaming in the background.
“The shelves are ruined! Oh my God,” a witness can be heard saying in the video which was earlier posted on Facebook.
The locals are of the view that the reptile entered inside the building due to an extremely humid climate. Though this isn’t the first public appearance of a monitor lizard in Thailand, back in 2016 they had invaded Bangkok’s, Lumpini Park.
Before the video was deleted by the ad agency, in a follow-up tweet they had mentioned that monitor lizards are common in Bangkok and though they look very intimidating they do not possess any threat to humans. As they are known to feed upon eggs, smalls animals, and carrions. Later a rescue team reached the spot to drag the water monitor outside the supermarket, safely.
