Shimla, one of India's favourite tourist destination,derives it's name from the Hindu goddess Shyamala Devi who was an incarnation of Kali.

It is the ground for MTB Himalaya which a mountain bike racing event. Home to temples, colleges and research institutes, it has always been a choice for travellers around the world to unwind and have fun.

* Ice Skating: The rink here is one of the oldest in Asia and the only open air-rink in India. Operational only from December to February, it attracts thousands of people every year from rookies to pros who come there to show off their skating skills. 

* Minchys: Since Shimla is blessed with a wide variety of fruits, Minchys makes sure that they make the most of this blessing. They convert these fruits into quality jams, squashes and wines. This place is a thumbs up for all those who go to Shimla. 

* Trekking: Referred to as the trekker's paradise, Shimla has one of the most exciting trekking trails. Jalori Pass, Shimla-Chail and Shimla-Junga are some of the few. The only thing to be kept in mind is to avoid trekking in monsoons because of road blocks and landslides.

* River-Rafting: It is one of the reasons which makes Shimla a tourist spot. Tattapani, a scenic spot along Satluj is known for thrilling sessions of rafting in the rapids. 

* Mall Road: It is the place to go if you want to experience some real Shimla. The amazing views from the adjoining areas will sure make the experience memorable.

* Lakkar Bazaar and Himachal Emporium: If you are looking for some Shimla special objects these are the places to go. Laakar Bazaar is known for it's wooden merchandise while Himachal Emporium is the abode of local handicrafts. 

* Glen: After all the roaming about, there should be a place where you can sit and relax. Located near the Chadwick falls, Glen is just the place for it. A lush forest area in Shimla, it is calm and serene filled with pine, deodar and oak trees. The perfect place to have a small picnic with family and friends.
