Weekend break turned ugly for TV actors Gagan Kang and Arjit Lavania, who died in a tragic car crash on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway, on Saturday.

Another body has been recovered from the mangled remains of the car apart from the actors. But police is yet to ascertain the identity of the third victim.

The police found beer cans and snacks inside the car and suspect that drunken driving was  the reason behind the crash.

Kang, who played Lord Indra in mythological series Mahakali - Anth Hi Aarambh Hai on Colors, and his co-star, who plays Nandi, died on the spot near Manor village in Palghar.

"The film crew had got a weekend break after the shooting and were returning back to Mumbai from Gujarat. The container was parked on the Highway, but the driver lost control and rammed into the container from behind and the impact was such that three occupants of the car died on the spot and were later pulled out from the mangled remains", a Manor police officer said.

"We found the cellphones of the deceased and managed to establish the contact with the family members to inform them about the accident and they are on their way to collect the bodies of the deceased", said the officer.

"We have registered the case of causing death due to negligence against Kang as he was driving the car. We are also investigating if they were drunk during the accident as we have seized beer cans from the car," Police Inspector Mahesh Patil said.
