Dreamy and Steamy TV relationships have long been spoken about and imitated to make for the ideal date, proposal or even anniversary! But the time for that is long gone and the society is slowly learning to accept any and every kind of love. That being said, since Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, it an opportune moment to set new relationships goals and celebrate the unconventional, imperfect, individualistic and free-spirited TV couples out there who deserve just as much as love as any model relationship!

After all, perfection much like beauty, lies in the eye of the beholder!

Here’s a list of some of the most distinctive TV couples whom you must catch on-screen!

1. Jimmy and Gretchen on 'You’re The Worst'

What’s so individualistic about Jimmy and Gretchen? For starters, they have issues – lots of them! Jimmy has daddy issues and Gretchen has mommy issues. Individually, equally toxic, this couple comes together to create even more random events in their lives, which actually turn out well for them. They need each other to discover their best selves while also helping each other stumble into adulthood.

Could you have seen a more destructive and constructive couple at the same time?

No? So, let’s celebrate them!

2. Claire and Jaime on Outlander

Imagine being stuck in time-zone different from the one in which the love of your life lives! A vivacious, young married woman in the 1900s time-travels to 1700 Scotland to find herself surrounded by the history she often discusses with her husband. Only problem – she finds herself falling in love with the laird in the past. Separated by hundreds of years, with Claire’s husband waiting for her in the present, this couple is surrounded by a myriad issues. She’s headstrong and he’s too, she’s way ahead for her time in the 1900s and Jaime is the chivalrous gentleman of the 1700s. Even then, this couple successfully navigates through all their issues to make one helluva love story!

3. Mitch and Cam on Modern Family

They’re not just gay! They’re fun, eccentric and probably the un-coolest – coolest couple on television! Mitch is obnoxiously particular about everything and Cam is the tantrum queen! But they are hilarious in their own goofy ways and often tend to give in to each other’s erratic quirks and even the most annoying faults. Cam is loud and Mitch is prim and during some occasions they can’t bear to be next each other?

As real as any couple today can be, Mitch and Cam don’t stand out as the gay couple on the show but as any normal, funny and entertaining couple we see today who fight, make up and undoubtedly love each other despite their quirks! So why not celebrate a love like that – probably one of the most actual relationships on television!

4. Barney and Robin on How I Met Your Mother

Everyone knows Barney Stinson was a baller and rather than issues, he considered his commitment issues as a flamboyant part of himself. But even he eventually could not be saved from falling for Robin on the series.

Although, the couple did not last with their marriage ultimately ending up in divorce, the way they could understand each other was commendable every step of the way. Not only the most real relationship on the show, they are also one of the most relatable couples on television.

While most of the show focused on Ted Mosby’s quest to find the ‘one’, it was actually Robin and Barney’s relationship that was identifiable for the viewers.

While they had issues about Robin not having time for Barney due to his career and Robin bearing with all his cockiness, looking back there is no doubt that the two absolutely loved each other.

5. Sheldon and Amy on The Big Bang Theory

Sheldon and Amy are by far the most off-beat couples on television yet! Both are nerdy yet Sheldon can be extremely obnoxious. Nothing about this couple has been normal. Neither was their first date a run-off- the-mill and true-to- its-form experience for either, nor was their life when they got together!

A roller-coaster of emotions, their relationship began with Penny sitting in on their first date and took a whole new turn with Sheldon making a very executive decision to move things to the next step saying, “to gift humanity with our progeny.”
