The all out war on The Walking Dead would not be endless.

According to Entertainment Weekly, showrunner Scott Gimple confirmed that the war between factions led by Rick Grimes and Negan will end in Season 8.

He said, "The war will absolutely be resolved by the end of season 8. Absolutely."

The admission by Gimple that the war will end in this next season also brings the focus back to the mysterious 'Old Man Rick' scene from the season 8 trailer that appears to mirror a time-jump from the comics that happens after the war.

When asked if Alpha might be making her debut in season 8, Gimple responded, by saying, "I'm going to give you a full no-comment on that."

Recently, Gimple assured the fans that the intensity will come early and come often in Season 8.

"It's massively heavy on the action. I really wanted to push into different ways than we've done things in a long time, just by virtue of we're a show going into its eighth year and I really don't want to do what we've done before, even if we've done it really well," said Gimple.

Season 8 of The Walking Dead premieres on October 22.
