A producer of Ishqbaaz, a popular television show, committed suicide by jumping off the 16th floor of his building in Malwani, Malad.

Earlier, reports that Sanjay Bairagi had lost his balance and fell off the building, but the police confirmed a suicide after they recovered a note, Mid Day reported.

The report added that Bairagi had returned home after playing Holi at 4.30 pm on Friday. He uploaded pictures of the celebrations, but two hours later jumped from the bedroom of his apartment.

In his suicide note, Bairagi has not held anyone responsible for his death. It reads, "It's my fault. My family is suffering and I have financial troubles. No one should be held responsible." Bairagi is survived by his wife and two kids.

Ishqbaaz's producer Gul Khan spoke to Spotboye.com and said, "Sanjay was an efficient worker and was controlling the entire production work. He wasn't directly reporting to me hence I wouldn't know the cause of death."

Last July, NCRB data showed that over 91,000 men had committed suicide, days after Union Minister Menaka Gandhi said she had not heard of cases of men committing suicide. 

For, the latest data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) says the number of male suicide victims in 2015 is more than two times higher than suicides committed by females. The data for 2016 has not come out yet.

As per the NCRB data, 91,528 males committed suicide in 2015. The number of females committing suicide in the same year was 42,088.

A total of 64,534 male victims were married, as compared to 28,344 married female victims. As many as 24,043 men took their lives over family-related problems, while the number of such women was 12,885.

As per the NCRB data, 22,293, housewives accounted for over 53 per cent of all female victims (42,088). They accounted for 16.7 per cent of all suicide victims, both male and female. People in the age group of 30-45 accounted for 33.4 per cent of the cases, while those in the age group of 18-30 accounted for 32.8 per cent.
