The contracts of the cast of Suits might be up when season 7 comes to an end, but series creator Aaron Korsh is feeling optimistic about the show's future.

"I'm always operating under the assumption that we'll be back next year," he told Deadline.

"It's never been wrong yet; obviously one day it will be wrong and when that time comes, I'll know well in advance."

The seventh season of the legal drama is currently on its mid-season break.

It is being speculated that the season seven finale will serve as the backdoor for spin-off starring Gina Torres who plays Jessica Pearson in the show.

"Gina and Aaron have created a truly memorable character in Jessica Pearson, and we felt we owed it to the audience – and ourselves! – to follow her journey beyond the original show," Jeff Wachtel, chief content officer for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment and president of Universal Cable Productions, told Variety.

According to the website, in the finale, the cast of Suits will reunite with their old friend Pearson as she adjusts to her new life in Chicago. When she is forced to enter the dirty world of Chicago politics, Pearson must rely on her legal wits and relationships from Pearson Specter Litt to navigate this unknown territory.
