Conventional romances or for that matter even unconventional ones are aplenty on TV. But there are a few shows that stand out for their twisted love stories. The protagonists are so dark and dangerous that they will go to any extent to possess the object of their fantasy, even kill for it. Here are a few serials that have grabbed attention for their deviant love stories.

ISHQ MEIN MARJAWAN

It’s a mushy title alright, but the saga is far from that! The love story in Ishq Mein Marjawan is built on lies, treachery and malevolence. Deep Raichand (Arjun Bijlani) has tricked Aarohi Kashyap (Aalisha Panwar) into marrying him so that he can frame her in place of his wife Tara! Why? Aarohi is a lookalike of his wife Tara, a psychotic woman, who kills unfaithful men. But that’s just a minor hiccup for Deep who is madly in love with Tara and will go to any extent to save her. He wants Aarohi to take the blame so that he and Tara can live a peaceful life. Aarohi, who is blinded by her love for Deep, does as he says, but once she realises the truth, she plots her vengeance from jail. She comes back into Deep’s life actually impersonating Tara and is now messing him up. Phew!

HAASIL

Two brothers are in love with one girl. She reciprocates the feelings of one brother, but ends up marrying the other! No, this is not a sappy love story, it has a twist to it. First Kabir (Vatsal Sheth) fools Aanchal (Nikita Dutta) into thinking he is in love with her. And later really falls in love with her. However, his brother Ranvir (Zayed Khan), who is also attracted to her, lies about having a brain tumour and steals her from his brother. Even after marrying her, he continues his deception and when his father comes to know about it, Ranvir has no qualms killing him. Aanchal is trying to expose his dark deeds to Kabir, but he is not buying it. Love, meanwhile, has flown out of the window.

EK DEEWANA THA

This is a tale of obsession, deceit and murder. Add supernatural elements to the mix and you have a twisted love story to the hilt. Sharanya (Donal Bisht) is suffering from memory loss due to an accident. Taking advantage of it, Vyom (Vikram Singh Chauhan), who is obsessed with Sharanya, convinces her that they are lovers and marries her. However, every time both of them come together, strange events occur and Vyom ends up getting hurt. It so happens that a ghost is at work! Shiv (Namik Paul), Sharanya’s true love was murdered and is now back in her life as a ghost. No prizes for guessing who killed him, but Sharanya is trying to unearth the truth and has become wary of her husband. Meanwhile, Vyom isn’t sparing anybody who comes in the way of his love. He is now fighting Shiv or rather his ghost. Eerie love, anyone?
