Koffee With Karan: When Hiroo Johar doubted her son's potential as filmmaker

Karan Johar is one the multi-talented filmmaker in Bollywood or possibly around the world. He started out as an assistant director with Yash Raj Films and now his Dharma Productions is one of their tough competitors. Johar has written a book, he hosts a radio show and is a judge on various talent shows on reality television. Koffee With Karan is just another jewel in his collection.

One would assume to be a success like this, the Student of the Year helmer got unabashed support from his family. While we have seen Johar dedicate one of his all-time blockbusters Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham to loving the parents, turns out his mother Hiroo Johar, at one point, doubted the potential of her son.

Karan Johar made this revelation as he opened the second episode of season 6 of Koffee With Karan on Sunday. Padmaavat star Ranveer Singh and Gold star Akshay Kumar are the guests on the Koffee couch this week.

The Baahubali producer said that until the day he set his foot on Kuch Kuch Hota Hai sets in the year 1998 as a director, his own mother was not confident enough – she did not believe that he could become a successful director or rather even a director at all. She would doubt Karan’s capability so much so that she didn’t even believe that he would know how to point the camera in the right direction!

In his first attempt at direction, Karan dissolved any and all doubts his mother by registering massive box office success.

His guests on Sunday, Ranveer Singh and Akshay Kumar will showcase the bromance between them. It is a glorious sight the audience has not seen before. Akshay and Karan will be ganging up on Ranveer with the questions about his wedding with Deepika Padukone. There will also be some game playing and a lot of merrymaking when the show airs on Star World at 9 pm.
