Season 3 of 'Naagin' franchise starts with a bang, smashes records and claims No.1 spot.
Ekta Kapoor has yet again caused a turbulence in the TV ratings chart with the opening of the third installment of her show Naagin. The Karishma Tanna, Anita Hassanandani and Surbhi Jyoti starrer Naagin 3 opened to a humongous rating of 10.8 million impressions.
This data was released by BARC (Broadcast Audience Research Counsil), India. The opening ratings of the latest season of Naagin has broken the record of last season's premiere episode (October 2016).
The Naagin franchise had managed to beat the top saas-bahu shows including Saath Nibhana Saathiya and Kumkum Bhagya and ruled the rating chart throughout, even though the first season of the show started on a crooked note in 2015.
Naagin 3 is back after a year's gap, but without its main face Mouni Roy, who has opted out of the Telly world to pursue her Bollywood dreams. Earlier, there were apprehensions regarding the acceptance of a new face in place of Mouni, but the ratings have shattered every doubt.
Sharing the news, Ekta Kapoor's production house Balaji Telefilms took to Twitter, "With an opening TRP of 4.2 and 4.5 #Naagin3 sets a new milestone. Excited about the unbelieveable response to the show, Ekta Kapoor replied, "#Naagin3 gets 4.5 TRP. Fabbbbb ".
And how could that not be possible when the celebrated TV and film producer herself came up with a brand new story and characters and roped in actors like Karishma Tanna, Anita Hassanandani and Surbhi Jyoti as main leads?
The upcoming season has garnered thunderous response and applause. The audience has showered love on the first two episodes of the show as well. The overall response to the show has been good too as the viewers are boggled by the two new Naagins, Karishma and Anita.
The viewers are glued to their screens and looking forward to see how Surbhi Jyoti's (Bela) character on the show will develop. Reports claim that she will also transform into a Naagin soon.
Season 3 of Naagin started with Shivangi (Mouni Roy) breathing her last in a Shiva temple with her questions unanswered. She vows to come back to take her revenge though. In another part of the world, Ruhi (Karishma Tanna) and Vikrant (Rajat Tokas), a pair of ichchadhaari naag-naagin have reunited after 100 years. They are spending some intimate moments when a bunch of goons start teasing them and attempt to molest Ruhi. That's when Vikrant transforms into a huge snake and creates havoc.
Tragically, he gets shot at and dies. Ruhi vows to avenge his killers and after six months enters the life of the killers as a seductress Vish Kanya (Anita Hassanandani). She has already killed one of the culprits.
The audience so far have loved Karishma and Anita's looks. While Karishma has managed to impress the audience with her emotional and heartwarming portrayal of Ruhi, Anita looks sultry and deadly.
While expressing his gratitude for all the love and support, actor Pearl V Puri, paired opposite Surbhi Jyoti took to Twitter and wrote, "Thanks a lot everyone for showering so much love and blessings #feelingblessed thanks a lot @ektaravikapoor mam for trusting me with Naagin. And congratulations nagin team @KARISHMAK_TANNA @anitahasnandani @surbhijyoti."
Although there is a fair chance that the audience is still missing the original cast, the opening ratings have given some relief to the makers and crew of Naagin 3.
