After sacking Kevin Spacey, to move the story ahead in season six of House of Cards, Netflix added Oscar nominees Diane Lane and Greg Kinnear to the regular roster for the cast.

Kevin Spacey, who was the main male lead and executive producer of the show, was fired after Star Trek: Discovery star Anthony Rapp accused him of sexual misconduct. Many more accusations followed after Rapp opened up about his incident as a teenager.

Production for the season six of House of Cards was put on hold for months while the writers reworked the script to put Robin Wright's character Claire Underwood in charge of the story.  The change was easier to adapt given in the Michael Dobbs book the show is based on, Frank dies. The streaming giant also shortened the length of the season from 13 episodes to 8 episodes.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lane (who plays Martha Kent in DC Universe) and Kinnear (who was nominated for Oscar for As Good as It Gets) will play siblings on the show. Further details about their characters are still under wraps.

Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Patricia Clarkson, Constance Zimmer, Derek Cecil, Campbell Scott and Boris McGiver are returning to reprise their respective roles.  Neve Cambell who played Leann Harvey in two seasons of the show is not coming back.

The release date for season six of House of Cards is yet to be determined.
