Recently, Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai actress Saumya Tandon was all over the news after she was robbed off Rs 60000 in Istanbul. The incident had left everyone in India shocked.
A cabbie robbed 1000 euros from her which is almost near Rs 60000. A Pinkvilla report stated, "As soon as Saumya gave him euros, he said that they were 'wrong money' which got Saumya perplexed as both Euros an Lira, as a currency work in Turkey. As soon as Saumya opened her purse that had euros, the cabbie put his hand in the purse and distracted her by screaming and honking. When he left, Saumya checked her purse and realized that a thousand euros were stolen."
While that incident was no less than a nightmare for the TV star, she got a lot of help from the Turkish police. She even sent us an exclusive video clip from the police station as well.
Here's what Saumya had to say -
"After the Turkish police read and heard about the news of theft , Turkish Tourism police found my hotel and waited for me for 10 hours because I was out, took me to the areas I went that day and then took me to the police station to register my case. They were so sweet that they also helped me buy Bakhlava the Turkish sweets and dropped me to the hotel. They also said they will drop me to the airport and will make sure that I am back safe. They were so efficient and prompt , they have left me bowled over. Many incidents have happened to me while visiting various countries but I have never witnessed this kind of concern and efficiency by the police. Turkey is setting standards of how the countries should treat and care for their tourists. They were actually very hurt that this all is bringing them bad reputation, the entire city has shook up. Their media also covered. The head of counsulate is coming to the airport to meet me."
