For International Women's Day 2021, we caught up with Hina and the actor spoke at length about women of this decade, her inspiration and more.

Excerpts...

Do you think there should be a day like International Women's Day to celebrate womanhood?

I am of the firm belief that just one day in the year to recognize and celebrate women is not enough! Women need to be celebrated and recognized every single day! For their multitasking abilities, for the way they selflessly put themselves after their loved ones and for the way they effortlessly balance out their personal and professional lives which is all remarkable and needs to be shown to the world at every given chance!

How would you define the woman of this decade?

The evolving times over the years have changed the way women are perceived in our country. Women of this decade are strong, powerful, have a voice of their own and are self-made. They are no damsels in distress and are ready to take on challenges in their stride. This new era has seen a much needed and major transformation of women turning tables in their favour and taking over the reins in every possible field today.

Who are the women who changed and shaped your life?

My mother is one woman who has helped me shape up my life. She is my inspiration and I look up to her and want to become the woman that she is! She is pure, she is selfless and the love, care and nurturing that she has given us is inexpressible in words. She has been my backbone, my strength in trying and testing times and always guided me on the right path in life. Today it is only and only because of my mother's life lessons that I am where I am.

A female public personality who you look up to for inspiration?

I have always maintained that I am a huge admirer of Priyanka Chopra. She is a woman of substance and the way she has shaped up her personality is truly admirable. She is currently one of the most versatile and dynamic personalities we have in the entertainment industry, and I look up to her for the way she has set the bar higher and higher each time bringing something new to the table.

Do you think even in a free world, women have less freedom when it comes to social media since many are subjected to online hate for sharing certain kind of photos, posts in comparison to men who get a polar opposite reaction?

I honestly feel that in this case, both women and men are subjected to hate or negative comments in regards to the kind of posts that are uploaded on social media. I have observed that people are not categorizing their trolling when it comes to both genders. It's sad that men and women, be it influencers, celebrities or common people are shamed and criticized for what they wear and choose to show to the world through social media. We call this a free world, we call this new age democratic, but still being pinned to the wall because of things like our dressing and sense of style is not acceptable, and this kind of negativity has to stop!

How do you think women can empower other women?

They say that women are usually not the best cheerleaders when it comes to other women, but that is so not true! Nowadays I am seeing women around me be a lot more supportive of other women in their league in the best possible way. I am noticing so many women in my arena who are uplifting other women who need a helping hand and being great support systems. Times have moved forward from when women would be at the crossfire with each other to women from all strata of social standing in union with one another.
