After skipping 'AHS: Cult,' Kathy Bates to return for season 8 of 'American Horror Story'

American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy has announced that veteran actor Kathy Bates will be making a comeback to the anthology series for its season eight.

Bates, who appeared in AHS: Coven, AHS: Freak Show, AHS: Hotel and AHS: Roanoke, had missed out on AHS: Cult due to her Netflix comedy show Disjointed. The show was later cancelled after just one season.

Murphy told Entertainment Weekly that Bates along with Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters will be headlining the next season.

"Kathy and Sarah Paulson have a lot of great stuff to get to do. So, with Evan Peters, the three of them are the leads this year," Murphy said.

Both Paulson and Peters featured in the season seven, Cult, of the hit show. While Peters played a cult leader pursuing political power after Donald Trump's victory in the US presidential polls, Paulson played a woman who was left traumatised by the win.

Murphy also talked about the rumours surrounding the title of the season eight that speculated that it will titled Radioactive. 

"I heard about that rumour. Well, that's based on a fact that we've cleared a lot of titles for that show. It's an interesting idea. I can neither confirm nor deny," Murphy said.
