DNA Exclusive: 'Aftab is one of my closest friends, was ecstatic to see him in Poison sequel,' shares Tanuj Virwani

Aftab Shivdasani starring web show 'Poison 2' released today. DNA caught up with the original antagonist of the show - Tanuj Virwani, who played the character of Ranveer. He seeked revenge for something tragic that happened in his life, which became the lead storyline for 'Poison'.

Aftab has taken the storyline forward in the character of Aditya. When we asked Tanuj if he met Aftab and discussed the role, the actor spilled that he is actually happy that Aftab is taking the franchise forward, because he is his closest friend in the industry.

Here are some excerpts from the interview:

The story which started with Ranveer's character, is now being taken forward. What was your reaction when you got to know about Poison sequel?

I was extremely happy when I got to know that they are making a season 2. At that point, it was not clear whether it would be a natural progression of the story from season 1 or character from season 1 or it would be an entirely fresh take. From what I gather, there are a couple of characters who are making a comeback in the 2nd season and I’m super excited to see, what the writers have come up with this time because I think it’s a fascinating concept and there are so many different directions one could possibly go with.

Poison, the one featuring you, had marked Arbaaz Khan's web debut, and your first time working with him. What was it like on the sets?

Unfortunately Arbaaz bhai and me had very very little work together. Infact, the only time we show up in the same frame is the very climax of season 1. Having said that, we did vibe quite a lot during promotions and actually we go back to a really long way. He has been a friend to our family and he has literally seen me grown up so it was truly special to have him on season 1 and honestly it was one of the reasons why I did the show in the first place.

Aftab has taken your place in Posion 2. Did you two meet and talk about working on the show beforehand?

Aftab is literally one of the closest friends that I have in the film industry and the very first time that I worked as an assistant director was for a film that he had produced called ‘Aao wish karein’ back in 2008-2009. 
Hence, we go back a really long way and our equation is far more than just being two actors. We connect on a very different level. So, I was absolutely ecstatic when I got to know that he is carrying forward the baton ahead and moving ahead with season 2 was Poison. How involved were you with Posion 2?

Look to be honest, the writers and the time have moved in a different direction. The premise remains the same that there would be a man exacting revenge for something wrong that has been done to him. So it becomes more franchise as opposed to sequential story telling. But having said that, there is a surprise in store for you’ll.
