Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 teaser highlights 18:9 display; to launch on February 14

E-commerce portal Flipkart has shared a teaser on Twitter which offers new details on the upcoming Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, which is expected to launch on February 14. According to the teaser shared by the company, the new smartphone will have an aspect ratio of 18:9 along with super-slim bezels.

The teaser video reads, “5 lets you see more, 5 gives you the widest perspective, 5 is an all-rounder device, and 5 makes colors come alive”. There have also been speculations that the new device will be a re-branded version of the Xiaomi Redmi 5 and will also be sported in another variant, dubbed the Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus.

Previous leaks suggest the device will sport a 5.99-inch display along with a 2160 x 1080 pixels resolution. It is also rumoured to be powered by a Snapdragon 636 CPU with either 3GB or 4GB RAM. It is said to be equipped with a 16MP + 5MP rear camera. It will be backed up by a 4,100mAh battery along with Quick Charge 4.0 support.

The previous generation, Redmi Note 4 features a 5-inch HD display with a 2.5D curved glass. It is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 435 processor and includes a microSD card which can be further expanded up to 128GB. Running Android 6.0 Marshmallow with MIUI 8 on top, the device comes equipped with a 13MP rear camera with dual-LED flash, f/2.2 aperture and PDAF along with a 5MP front-facing camera. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n. A 4100mAh battery completes the package.
