Facebook-owned WhatsApp is currently testing colorful text statuses for its Status tab. The feature was spotted in Android beta version 2.17.291 and is expected to arrive soon for all users. Facebook had started rolling out coloured text status feature for Android in December last year.

According to a report by Android Police, you will need to head to the Status tab and look for the floating pencil button on the bottom right. The new colored text status screen has three icons for adding emojis, selecting the font, and changing the background color as well. After you are done tying your text, you tap the green send button to post it as your status.

However, at the moment, this appears to be a server-side test so this feature might not be available to you, even if you have updated the app.

WhatsApp recently announced that it now has 1 billion daily active users on its service. The monthly active user base has now increased to 1.3 billion andalmost 55 billion messages are shared every day while 1 billion videos are shared per day and 4.5 billion photos are shared per day, in 60 supported languages.
