?This is an incredibly momentous achievement on our part. This indeed marks a watershed moment for all of us here as we had given ourselves a two month deadline to commission the project, the team worked over day and night and we were able to deliver the entire 1 MW project in a record time of just 45 days,? said managing director Ultimate Sun Systems, BS Yadav.
?The plant will result in a reduction of 2800 tonnes of carbon emissions to the atmosphere. We really appreciate MMU Chairman?s commitment to make MMU become a carbon neutral academic institution in the long run,? added Yadav.
Adding to this Yadav said that India?s rooftop potential is currently pegged at 1, 24, 000 MW. More than 30 per cent of this number can be easily achieved if 1.3 percent houses in India are made solar compatible.
However, the problem is, major cities and metros are lagging behind as far as adopting solar is concerned. If the Government is keen on achieving the energy target of 200 GW by 2022, major part of this target needs to come from rooftop solar. As of now, the 1 GW capacity is rather negligible in the larger scheme of things.
?During the installation, Ultimate Sun Systems conducted training sessions for University staff and students which helped them gain valuable practical insights in this new and clean form of solar power generation technology,? said chairman MMU, Dr. Tarsem Garg.
