Ever jumped out of an Uber and completely forgot to rate the driver? Then find yourself clicking 5 stars a few days later, even though the ride could have been better. Now the company is letting users in the US provide feedback even before the ride is over.

Anyone who has taken an Uber is probably familiar with its app that encourages feedback after the journey. This is a way for the company to ... “understand whether you had the 5 star experience (they) always want you to have, and know what's working and not working” according to their blog.

It's easy to get out of the Uber, possibly excited about where you're headed, and completely forget about this last step. Especially as the issue of payment was addressed at the start.

That's why the company is introducing a mid-ride way to give feedback. Passengers can now take a moment to rate, compliment, tip or share feedback while the experience is fresh in their mind.

The announcement from Uber reads “When you're having a great ride, let us know by adding a compliment, thank you note, or tip. Your positive feedback will be used to recognize top quality drivers and encourage continued outstanding service through a new program launching in June.”

More than just a clap on the back, this could in turn lead to improvements in the company's technology; through analyzing issues concerning ‘navigation' and ‘pickups' they may identify unsolved technical problems.

“Every day 15 million people take a ride on Uber. If you can capture incrementally more and better feedback . . . we're going to use that feedback to make the service better,” Peter Deng, Uber's head of rider experience, told techcrunch.
