Microblogging site and social networking site Twitter announced pulling the plug on its Mac desktop app.  Support for Twitter for Mac will end in 30 days, according to The Verge. The app has never been as robust as third-party clients like Tweetbot or even Twitter's in-house services like Tweetdeck.

Before Twitter decided to kill it, the app had an average user rating on the App Store of 1.7 out of 5. "We're focusing our efforts on a great Twitter experience that's consistent across platforms. So, starting today the Twitter for Mac app will no longer be available for download, and in 30 days will no longer be supported," the social media giant said in a tweet.

The company has failed time and again to keep its Mac app up to date with the service's latest features. It took the company more than seven months to bring Moments, which launched in October 2015, to its Mac client.
