Reliance Jio might soon disrupt the market once again, with its much-awaited 4G VoLTE feature phone which is rumoured to be priced at Rs 500. The launch is rumoured to be announced at the eliance Industries’ annual general meeting on July 21.

According to a report by Economic Times, he HSBC research note stated that the new phone will be subsidized by as much as $10-15 (approximately Rs 650-970). The company is believed to have placed an order of 18-20 million units for the handsets with Chinese vendors such as Zhejiang Techain Electronics Technology Co., Shenzhen CHINO-E Communication Co, Crave and Megaphone. Shipments are said to begin from month-end or early August, with a possible launch for August 15.

Additionally, the launch would follow Jio’s likely announcement of a new tariff plan with aggressive price-points over the next couple of days with its 84-day Dhan Dhana Dhan offer. The new plan is said to be priced between Rs 80-90.

The device is said to be available in two variants. It will sport a 2.4-inch display with 512MB RAM, 4GB internal storage along with microSD card support. While one device would feature a Qualcomm processor, the other would include a Spreadtrum chip.  It will come equipped with a 2MP rear camera, and a VGA front camera. Connectivity features will include Wi-Fi, GPS and NFC.
