Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif launched a direct attack on Twitter, accusing the platform of shutting down accounts of real Iranians instead of bots.

Zarif posted a tweet addressed to Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey charging Twitter shuttered accounts of real Iranians including TV presenters, students for supposedly being part of an 'influence op' whereas actual bots used for regime change propaganda continue to flourish on the platform.

The removal of accounts, as claimed by Zarif, is supposedly after Twitter;s recent crackdown on fake accounts. As Cnet reported, Twitter had revealed that it had suspended 284 accounts with ties to Iran for coordinated manipulation.

Recently, Twitter said it is expanding premium video content in Asia Pacific with over 50 live stream and video highlights collaborations. "Twitter unveils over 50 premium video content collaborations, bringing hundreds of hours of live stream and video highlights programming, across sports, entertainment and news, to the platform," Twitter said in a statement.

The statement also said that a dozen Indian content collaborations with partners like Red Chillies Entertainment, Vh1 Supersonic, Comic Con India, Network 18, Scoopwhoop, NDTV, Filmfare and CricBuzz and others will feature new live stream and video highlights programming on Twitter, available to advertisers.

"Content is happening now at Twitter, and we have proven through the efficacy of the partnerships we have crafted, that content programming and distribution on Twitter is an essential part of any media company's audience engagement and content monetisation strategies," Kay Madati, Global VP of Content Partnerships, Twitter said in a statement.

Stating that Asia Pacific is "accelerating growth" for Twitter, Madati said that the platform seeks to move forward with more live stream and premium video content partnerships in the region.
