Google has begun the roll out for the Android monthly security update for its Nexus and Pixel devices. The new software update is available for the Pixel, Pixel XL, Pixel C, Nexus 6P, Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 9 and the Nexus Player.

The new update is said to have brought about bug fixes for 11 issues. The new update fixes 32 moderate and 94 high rated issues. Additionally, the company has also released system images and OTA files for compatible devices.

According to Google, the most severe of these issues is a critical security vulnerability in media framework that could enable a remote attacker using a specially crafted file to execute arbitrary code within the context of a privileged process. The severity assessment is based on the effect that exploiting the vulnerability would possibly have on an affected device, assuming the platform and service mitigations are turned off for development purposes or if successfully bypassed.

However, some Google Pixel users were facing issues with the new update and were unable to install it. Users flocked to Reddit and the Pixel User Community to vent out. The company is working towards fixing the problem.
