Google introduces lighter version of Gmail in the Play Store; now available in India

Google has introduced a lighter version of the Gmail app – Gmail Go – which will work with devices, with basic specifications such as less than 1GB RAM or 512MB RAM. The app is now available for download from the Google Play Store. Up until now, Google has launched Go versions of popular apps such as Gboard, Google Assistant and YouTube.

Google has introduced a lighter version of the Gmail app – Gmail Go – which will work with smartphones, with basic specifications, such as less than 1GB RAM or 512MB RAM. The app is now available for download from the Google Play Store. Up until now, Google has launched Go versions of popular apps such as Gboard, Google Assistant and YouTube.

The company mentioned in a description, "The Gmail you love, now lighter and just as fast. Enjoy a smart inbox that keeps your messages safe and you organized. Receive notifications when mail arrives, then read and respond both online & offline. Plus, find messages quickly with powerful search and lots more."

The new app will include most of the features available on the original Gmail app. The company will offer a ‘smarter’ inbox, which will focus on messages from friends and family first, while social and promotional emails will be stacked separately.

The new app also includes 15GB of free storage for users. Gmail Go app also claims to block spam messages before it reaches your inbox. Lastly, the app offers multiple account support, which will allow users to set up both, Gmail and non-Gmail addresses, such as Outlook, Yahoo Mail or any other IMAP/POP email.
