To combat the spread of fake news on the web, AdBlock Plus has built a new browser extension called TrustedNews which tells you if you have ended up on a biased information site or reading fake news.

Trusted News is currently available only for Chrome. The extension is powered by the MetaCert Protocol and uses news verification sources like Snopes and PolitiFact, Cnet reported.

If you are visiting a trustworthy website, the icon in the Chrome menu shows a green checkmark. Other ratings show whether a website is biased, satirical, malicious, user-generated, and so on.
