Reliance Industries will hold its Annual General Meeting on July 21 at 11AM in Mumbai. The company is rumoured to make some big announcements regarding Reliance Jio, along with some new products and services. Let’s take a quick look at what we can expect from the event.
4G VoLTE feature phone
Multiple reports online suggest that the company could introduce a new Reliance Jio LYF-branded 4G feature phone, which would be priced between Rs 500-1500. According to reports, the device would be manufactured by Foxconn, but Economic Times has stated that Intex would manufacture the phone which will be co-developed with Jio and sold via a ‘subsidy model’. In terms of specifications, the device will feature a 2.4-inch colour display, 512MB of RAM along with an internal storage of 4GB along with a microSD card. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. It will be backed up by a 2000mAh battery. The feature phone will come pre-bundled with Jio services and will most likely launch in August for the Indian market.
JioFiber broadband
This year, Jio is rumoured to launch its home broadband services called JioFiber. Reports suggest that the company will offer its broadband services for free for the first three months. Recently, the company “accidently” updated its website and leaked the JioFiber plans which stated that the service would offer 100GB of data per month at the speed of 100Mbps. Reportedly, installation charges will be Rs 4500. On Twitter, JioCare confirmed that the service will be available in six cities of Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Ahmedabad, Jamnagar, Surat and Vadodara at the time of launch.
New Jio tariff plans
Reliance Jio might introduce new plans (prepaid/postpaid) this month which will be priced between Rs 80-90. These plans will be available for those customers who purchase the Jio feature phone. The company will not go big with the tariff announcements on stage but will be available for customers to see on the website and other platforms.
