A 90-second video of UCLA gymnast Katelyn Ohashi has become the viral video of the year 2019 so far. Katelyn Ohashi has become a star on social media after a 90-second video of her mindblowing performance was shared on Twitter and social media by UCLA gymnastics.

The floor routine by Katelyn Ohashi is a homage to classic R&B set to a medley of songs by Michael Jackson, including ‘The Way You Make Me Feel’ and ‘I Want You Back'. The video of her routine has shared by thousands of people worldwide and just the videos shared by UCLA have garnered over 50 million views on social media.

There were graceful moves, dance steps, numerous backflips and splits in the routine that ended to thunderous applause from the audience and her teammates. However, Ohashi is no stranger to viral fame. Her Michael Jackson routine from last year during UCLA’s national championship season earned more than 90 million views on Facebook. She wanted to top it.

Ohashi is the reigning NCAA co-champion in floor exercises and was also a 2018 NCAA team champion. She was competing at the highest level of gymnastics and even once beat Olympian gymnast Simone Biles when she was just 15.

However, in 2013, she nearly quit the sport altogether due injuries and not being able to keep up with the criticism, especially about her weight gain, says the Daily News.

At UCLA, Ohashi rediscovered her joy in gymnastics and she is writing poetry too. Most importantly she is enjoying the sport and bringing joy to the people.
