This email shot off by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) at 5.48 pm on Wednesday tried to portray as if Sridhar's exit is a part of routine. But there is more to it than meets the eye.
Sridhar is said to have resigned on September 20 and Johri will take over the responsibilities for the time being.
The question is — how was Sridhar, who is co-accused in a scam, allowed to continue for so long after Justice Lodha panel recommendations, accepted by Supreme Court last year, made it clear that no chargesheeted person can be part of the BCCI set up?
Sridhar has been made co-accused, along with former India offie Arshad Ayub, G Vinod and seven others, by the Anti-Corruption Bureau of Telangana in the Hyderabad Cricket Association's Rs 4 crore scam.
The Committee of Arbitrators has kept mum despite knowing that Sridhar has been charged under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
In July this year, BCCI sent a notice to Sridhar for not stating certain information in the disclosure form which all the employees had to submit in order to have no "conflict of interest".
It was brought to the notice of the BCCI that Sridhar had deliberately concealed facts relating to his role in the affairs of the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).

BCCI was given a paper, which showed that Deccan Colts and Satyam Colts carried the address of Sridhar's residence in Banjara Hills. But Sridhar denied he has any direct role to play in the clubs despite the bank documents of six clubs throwing light on how he has been operating their accounts.
Also, Sridhar's exit casts a shadow on India's domestic leagues, mainly Ranji Trophy starting on October 6 as he was supposed to ensure smooth functioning of the season.
