Brighton and Hove Albion are set to complete the signing of Jose Izquierdo from Belgian side Club Brugge after the Colombian winger was allowed to work by the English FA.

According to British media reports, Brighton will pay Brugge an initial 13.5 million pounds ($17.37 million) for the 25-year-old Izquierdo, with add-ons potentially taking the total value up to 16 million.

"Brighton & Hove Albion today confirmed that The FA has granted (Governing Body Endorsement) for Jose Izquierdo," the club said in a statement.

"The club will now proceed to register the player subject to international clearance."

The Premier League newcomers broke their transfer record for the third time during the current transfer window.

They signed Australian goalkeeper Mathew Ryan for a reported 5.2 million pounds from Valencia in June, before spending around 10 million pounds on Dutch midfielder Davy Propper from PSV Eindhoven earlier this month. ($1 = 0.7770 pounds)
