Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal in the Serie A game between Juventus and Frosinone has helped him rewrite the club's history as he went level with a record that John Charles set in 1958. Juventus won the game 3-0 on Friday at the Allianz Stadium.

After Paulo Dybala and Leonardo Bonucci giving Juventus the required lead, Ronaldo got on the scoresheet with his 19th league goal of the season when he swept home Mario Mandzukic's pass in the 63rd minute.

"It was a good match, for rhythm and for the technical level shown. We did something wrong in the second half, but the result was already safe and we were good at closing the game before," defender Mattia De Sciglio said.

During the 1957-58 season, Charles had done the same, when the Welshman had arrived at Juventus from Leeds United in the summer of 1957.

Juventus will be visiting Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday. "The feelings are positive, although we are aware that it will be a very difficult game," De Sciglio said of the upcoming match. "The qualification will be played over 180 minutes, but already on Wednesday we will have the right attitude from the first minute."

Juventus are currently 14 points clear of second-placed Napoli as they chase an eighth successive title.
