Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) of Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has advised extending Rahul Dravid's contract as coach of the India A and Under-19 teams.

According to a reports in Indian Express, CAC, which comprises of Dravid's former team members Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, and VVS Laxman, decided that there will not be open interview process for the post since there is a clause in Dravid's contract that allows the Indian cricket board to extend his tenure without going through the procedure that was followed in the case of Team India coach Anil Kumble.

Quoting an anonymous BCCI official, the daily reported that Committee of Administrators (CoA) wanted the open procedure, but later they were made aware of the clause in Dravid's contract. BCCI is yet to finalise the terms and conditions, including the remuneration, of the renewed contract. Dravid used to draw a little over Rs 4 crores for a 10-month contract he had with the cricketing body.

"The CAC has approved the two-year extension and now everything depends on money to be paid to Dravid. The earlier contract was for ten months and board paid him more than four crores. Now, a new contract with new salary has to be provided. There is a chance that his appointment would come up at board special general body meeting," the daily quoted a BCCI official as saying.
