Arsenal's 12-match home winning streak in the Premier League came to a shuddering halt as Jesse Lingard scored twice in an exhilarating 3-1 victory for second-placed Manchester United on Saturday.

Skipper Antonio Valencia and Lingard punished woeful Arsenal defending to put United two ahead inside 11 minutes at the Emirates and Lingard struck again in the 63rd minute after Alexandre Lacazette's goal had revived home hopes.

Keeper David De Gea was inspired for United who had to play the final 15 minutes with 10 men after record signing Paul Pogba was shown a straight red card for a reckless 'studs up' foul on Arsenal right back Hector Bellerin.

United's first away victory over a 'top-six' rival since Jose Mourinho took charge meant they cut Manchester City's lead to five points, although Pep Guardiola's side host struggling West Ham United on Sunday. 

Valencia looked to have been denied by his extra touch off a Paul Pogba through ball, but spun the ball through Petr Cech‘s legs to make it 1-0.

It was off a bad giveaway, and Arsenal had a second one moments later. United clinically finished again, with Anthony Martial‘s incredibly deft flick meeting Lingard’s impressive side-footed finish inside the far post.

The Gunners were thwarted in a chance to pull one back when David De Gea stopped Alexandre Lacazette at close range before Granit Xhaka laced the rebound wide of the frame.

However, Aaron Ramsey unselfishly provided for Lacazette in the 49th minute to make it 2-1.

United saw a ball hit the far post moments later in a bid to restore the two-goal lead.

De Gea made an amazing pair of stops on Lacazette and Alexis Sanchez in the 56th minute.

United went 3-1 ahead after the hour mark thanks to another Arsenal giveaway, with Pogba turning Laurent Koscielny inside out before passing through the six for Lingard to tap home.

Minutes later, Pogba went studs up into Bellerin’s ankle to get an easy red card. He will now miss the Manchester Derby.
