Premier League side Everton completed the signing of star Colombian midfielder James Rodriguez from Real Madrid on Monday (September 8). The 29-year-old penned a two year deal with the Toffees with an option to extend that for one more season. Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti is a huge admirer of James and has been reunited with the star for the third time.

Before this, Ancelotti had signed James Rodriguez at Real Madrid and also brought him on loan at Bayern Munich when he was managing the German giants.

Everton has reported paid £22 million ($29 million) to the Los Blancos to acquire Rodriguez's services, who was top scorer at the 2014 World Cup.

"I am really, really happy to be at this great club, a club with so much history, and here with a manager who knows me really well," James told evertonfc.com.

"I’m looking forward to achieving great things here – and winning things, which is what everyone’s aim is. I’ve come here to try to improve, to get better. I’ve also come here to help the team to win, to play good football – entertaining football."

"I’m convinced, with Carlo and his technical staff, we can achieve big things and one of the big reasons [I signed] was the presence of Carlo Ancelotti. I have enjoyed some great times with him previously at two different clubs. That was a massive reason to come here," he added.

James Rodriguez had crowned his debut Spanish season, when Real Madrid won both the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup, by being named in UEFA’S team of the year. He was part of a Real team which won successive Champions Leagues in 2015/16 and 2016/17, adding the La Liga crown and UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup to the second of those European titles.
