The two national teams will lock horns after a gap of 21 years at the Suzhou Olympic Sports Centre Stadium. In their last meeting, which took place in the Nehru Cup tournament in Kochi in 1997, China piped India 2-1. This is the first time an Indian senior national team is playing China away.
India haven't ever been able to manage a victory against China in their last 17 outings for far. While the Red Dragons have won on 12 occasions, five matches ended in a stalemate.
China's dominance at home would be a tough challenge for the Indian football team led by Sunil Chhetri. The match will be a good indicator of India's prepartions for the AFC Asian Cup 2019.
"China are obviously a good side. They play some good football. Our performance against China will be a great indication of where we are and how far we need to go," Indian coach Stephen Constantine said.
