Manika Batra on Saturday won a first ever women's singles table tennis gold for India at the Commonwealth Games, blanking Yu Mengyu of Singapore 4-0 in the final in Gold Coast.

The 22-year-old dominated throughout the match as she clinched straight games 11-7, 11-6, 11-2, 11-7 victory over Singapore's Meingyu Yu in the women's singles final.

With this, Manika also became the first Indian woman to bag two gold medals in table tennis at Commonwealth Games.

Batra showed that her crucial victory against world no. 4 Feng Tianwei in the team final was no fluke as the Indian edged out the Singaporean 4-3 in the women's singles semifinals.

This was Batra's third medal at Gold Coast. She had earlier defeated Singaporean player Yihan Zhou 11-7, 11-4, 11-7, to guide India to glory.

She then went on to win silver alongside Mouma Das in women's doubles on Friday.

She can add a fourth medal to what already has been a dream campaign so far when she plays the mixed doubles bronze play-off on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Achanta Sharath Kamal and Gnanasekaran Sathiyan settled for silver after losing 5-11, 12-10, 11-9, 6-11, 8-11 against England's Paul Drinkhall and Liam Pitchford in the men's doubles final.

Harmeet Desai and Sanil Shankar Shetty defeated Singaporean players Yew En Koen Pang and Shao Feng Ethan Poh 11-5, 11-6, 12-10 to win the bronze medal in men's doubles.
