Following are some snippets from the fourth round of the U.S. Open on Sunday.

QUOTE OF THE DAY

World number one Dustin Johnson is not exactly known as a chatterbox and neither is the man who replaced him as U.S. Open champion good friend and training partner Brooks Koepka. Johnson gave Koepka a pep talk on Saturday night but apparently it did not take long to deliver the message:

"Yeah, I mean there's probably not that much that's that interesting to be honest," said Koepka. "It was a long phone call for us, it was like two minutes it wasn't much.

"But he just said a few things, and just stay patient. And I'll win if I stay patient and just keep doing what I'm doing."

HOLE OF THE DAY

The 356 yard par-four 15th was the not only the toughest hole of Sunday's final round but proved key swing in the trophy chase.

There were only six birdies and U.S. Open winner Brooks Koepka had one of them while Japan's Hideki Matsuyama carded one of the 18 bogeys resulting in a two stroke swing.

There was also plenty of big trouble at the 15th with five players carding double-bogeys, Satoshi Kodaira, Thomas Aiken and Li Haotong taking sevens and Russell Henley an eight.

PERFORMANCE OF THE DAY

Japan's Hideki Matsuyama started the final round six shots off the lead but by the end of day was just one off the lead after carding a sensation six-under par 66 to finish in tie for second behind Brooks Koepka.

Matsuyama's best round of the day included eight birdies offset by two bogeys.

The 25-year-old might have missed out on the U.S. Open but will jump from fourth to second in the world rankings behind Dustin Johnson.
