India's star gymnast Dipa Karmakar has thanked everybody for believing in her after winning the gold medal in the vault event of FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Challenge Cup at Mersin, Turkey on Sunday. Karmakar took to Twitter on Monday to thank many people including the Sports Authority of India and Gymnastic Federation of India for their support.

She tweeted, "This medal is for everyone who never stopped believing in me! Thank you @Media_SAI, Gymnastic Federation of India, Anant Joshi Sir, @GoSportsVoices, my physio Sajad bhai, Tripura Govt, Nandi sir and @merakiconnect for the endless support and encouragement."

She underwent a surgery and missed Commonwealth Games as rehabilitation took more time than expected.

Dipa topped the qualification round with score of 13.400 and the registered 14.150 to win her maiden gold medal in a World Challenge Cup for India.

Her fete earned accolades from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who tweeted, "India is proud of @DipaKarmakar! Congratulations to her on winning a well-deserved Gold in the vault event at the FIG World Challenge Cup in Mersin, Turkey. This win is a prime example of her tenacity and never-say-die attitude."

Karmakar thanked PM Modi for his encouraging words.

Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports Rajyavardhan Rathore, Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb and others followed the suit.

Dipa will next represent India with the 10-member gymnastics team at the upcoming Asian Games.
