There have been three constant names in tennis in the past few years – Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. Although the Serb suffered a major downfall, post his French Open 2016 win, the veteran-duo of Nadal and Federer have been touching new heights every passing tournament they have been playing.

The last six Grand Slams have had a winner from either of Nadal or Federer and no other player has come near challenging them in any of the final.

In the lead up to the grass season, Djokovic, who is aiming to make a comeback and himself has won three titles at the Wimbledon, has claimed Federer to be the favourite to defend his title at All England Club.

While the Serb did not mention it directly, but his statements clearly showed what he meant. Indicating at the fact that even in-form Nadal won’t be able to stop Federer, Djoko said, “He is where he is because he deserves it so coming into Wimbledon, it's his backyard, you know, it's his court and it's where he loves to play. So he will be the man to beat there. He will be the first favourite.”

When asked to describe Federer, who is aiming to bag his 21st major title, Djoko said, “Well it's hard to pick superlatives for him. There’s so many things have been said about him throughout the course of his career that he definitely deserves all the positives and all the compliments. He is a champion on and off the court.

He still keeps on inspiring everyone, showing that age is just a number and he keeps on going and playing some amazing tennis, really,” Djokovic added.

Djokovic has spent the last 12 months struggling with an elbow injury but slowly has been finding some form.
